NotebookLM is an AI-powered research assistant from Google that acts as a personalized expert on the information a creator provides. Unlike general AI chatbots, it works by “grounding” itself in the specific sources uploaded to a “notebook,” such as PDFs, Google Docs, website links, or Google Slides.  Users can then chat with the AI to get summaries of the documents, find specific facts, ask complex questions, and brainstorm new ideas, all based only on the material in the notebook. It can generate summaries, answer questions with in-line citations that link back to the original sources, and transform content into new formats, such as a study guide, a timeline, or even a podcast-style “Audio Overview.”
